Narratives on ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud’s Refusal to Surrender his Mushaf - Episode 01

It is reported that when ‘Uthman (rta) in his times tried to gather the ummah on a single reading in order to resolve the differences in reading the Qur’an, he embarked upon a great campaign of collecting all spurious and unofficial masahif and having them destroyed. ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (rta) is reported to have disliked this measure adopted by ‘Uthman (rta). Not only did he refuse to hand over his mushaf, he also asked the people of Kufah to hide their masahif. In this episode, Dr Shehzad Saleem presents the texts of all the narratives that report this.
