‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas stated that God’s Messenger said: “He who combined two prayers without any excuse, he has committed a major sin.”[1]
Following is the schematic illustration of the isnad of this narrative’s variants:
About Hanash ibn Qays (also called Hasan ibn Qays), al-Mizzi records: Ahmad ibn Hanbal says laysa hadithahu bi shay’ and that he has not narrated anything from him matruk al-hadith da‘if al-hadith; Yahya ibn Ma‘in says that he is da‘if laysa bi shay’; Abu Zur‘ah regards him to be da‘if ; Abu Hatim regards him to be da‘if al-hadith; al-Bukhari says that his narratives are munkarah jiddaṇ wa la yuktabu hadithuhu; al-Nasa’i says that he is matruk al-hadith and at another place says that he is laysa bi thiqah; Ibn ‘Adi says that he is closer to du‘f than to sidq.
