Condemnation of Pride and Vanity

وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ وَاقْصِدْ فِي مَشْيِكَ وَاغْضُضْ مِن صَوْتِكَ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ الْأَصْوَاتِ لَصَوْتُ الْحَمِيرِ (31: 18-19)

And do not rudely turn away from people nor walk arrogantly in the land because God does not like the arrogant and the conceited. And be humble in your gait and lower your voice because the most hideous of voices is the braying of donkeys. (31:18-19)
