وَ لَا تَتَمَنَّوۡا مَا فَضَّلَ اللّٰہُ بِہٖ بَعۡضَکُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِیۡبٌ مِّمَّا اکۡتَسَبُوۡا وَ لِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِیۡبٌ مِّمَّا اکۡتَسَبۡنَ وَ سۡئَلُوا اللّٰہَ مِنۡ فَضۡلِہٖ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ کَانَ بِکُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیۡمًا.(32:4)

And do not desire that by which God has made some of you superior to some. Men will get a share from what they earn and women will get a share from what they earn. So ask God about His blessings. Indeed, God is aware of all things. (4:32)

How Jealous you are?
1.Your co-worker gets a promotion. You:
i. plan a celebration at the office for all friends.
ii. grumble that you didn’t get it in spite of knowing that your colleague deserved the promotion.
iii. tell your colleagues that the boss showed favouritism even though you know that your colleague deserved the promotion.
iv. wish him well and given him a gift.
2. Your personal website is much better than your friend’s. You:
i. recommend ways to your friend by which he/she can make his/her website better.
ii. offer personal help to make it better.
iii. make fun of your friend’s website.
3. Whom are you most jealous of:
i. all people richer than you.
ii. all people more gifted than you.
iii. no one.
4. Your best friend secures the top position in an exam. You:
i. spread the false news that he got this position by bribing the examiner.
ii. are inspired to work hard the next time so that you can also secure the top position.
iii. feel jealous of his achievement.
iv. give him a gift and praise his performance.
5. Your friend shows off his/her latest electronic gadget. You:
i. secretly fiddle with it and try to jam its working.
ii. feel good that your friend has a good possession.
iii. grumble at not having enough money to buy such a thing.
6. In order to make your friends jealous of you:
i. you tell them that you have revised the complete exam syllabus twice even though in reality you have not even started.
ii. you do nothing.
iii. you lie to them that you are so well prepared for the exams that you have taught this syllabus to a junior class.
7. Your parents have given your sister a car for a birthday present. You:
i. are very annoyed that you never received such an expensive present.
ii. are happy for your sister and ask her to give you a ride.
iii. blame your parents for showing bias to your sister.
8. You have a friend who is extremely intelligent. You:
i. tell people that there are many who are much more intelligent.
ii. feel very happy that you have such an intelligent friend.
iii. pray that your friend does his country proud by various achievements.
iv. try to steal his exam notes.
9. You and your two friends apply to Harvard University for a higher degree. You have the strongest credentials but somehow your application gets rejected while both your friends get admission.
i. You feel very happy for your friends and wish them the best.
ii. You write to the university and lie to them that these two friends have a link with a terrorist organization.
iii. You feel dejected but realize that there must be something good in this hidden for you.
10. You and your spouse belong to the same specialization of the medical profession. Your spouse is much more successful in this profession and a better doctor as well.
i. You feel professional jealousy and try to indirectly stop your patients from going to your spouse’s clinic.
ii. You feel honoured to have such a spouse.
iii. You encourage your own patients to show themselves to your spouse.

III. Improve yourself through Self-Evaluation
Write a “Jealousy” diary for two weeks. Each day write down any act of jealousy you may have shown. At the end of two weeks, share this with your closest friend or with your instructor or just destroy it.
Make a commitment to yourself that in future you will refrain from jealosuy as much as you can.
IV Reconsider the Quiz
Go back and study the quiz you have attempted. In particular, study the answers in which you have scored less. Re-evaluate your choices and make a commitment to improve in this area.
