یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا یَسۡخَرۡ قَوۡمٌ مِّنۡ قَوۡمٍ عَسٰۤی اَنۡ یَّکُوۡنُوۡا خَیۡرًا مِّنۡہُمۡ وَ لَا نِسَآءٌ مِّنۡ نِّسَآءٍ عَسٰۤی اَنۡ یَّکُنَّ خَیۡرًا مِّنۡہُنَّ ۚ وَ لَا تَلۡمِزُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَکُمۡ وَ لَا تَنَابَزُوۡا بِالۡاَلۡقَابِ ؕ بِئۡسَ الِاسۡمُ الۡفُسُوۡقُ بَعۡدَ الۡاِیۡمَانِ ۚ وَ مَنۡ لَّمۡ یَتُبۡ فَاُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الظّٰلِمُوۡنَ (11) …وَ لَا یَغۡتَبۡ بَّعۡضُکُمۡ بَعۡضًا ؕ اَیُحِبُّ اَحَدُکُمۡ اَنۡ یَّاۡکُلَ لَحۡمَ اَخِیۡہِ مَیۡتًا فَکَرِہۡتُمُوۡہُ ؕ وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰہَ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ تَوَّابٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ.(49: 11-12)
Step 1: Fill out the first lines of the following tables by placing the translation of the Arabic word below it and then make the scrambled sentence into a meaningful one in the last lines of each of the tables.

یَغۡتَبۡ: backbite
بَّعۡضُکُمۡ: one of you
بَعۡضًا: to others
اَیُحِبُّ: would like
اَحَدُکُمۡ: any of you
اَنۡ: that
یَّاۡکُلَ: he eats
لَحۡمَ: the flesh
اَخِیۡہِ: of his brother
مَیۡتًا: dead
فَکَرِہۡتُمُوۡہُ: so you regarded it to be detestable
وَ |

یَغۡتَبۡ |
بَّعۡضُکُمۡ |
بَعۡضًا |
اَیُحِبُّ |
اَحَدُکُمۡ |

Step III: Compare your Translation with the Following:
O those who have professed faith, a group of men should not make fun of another group of men; it is possible that they are better than them. And women should not make fun of other women; it is possible that they are better than them. And do not defame one another; after faith, even the name of defiance is evil. And those who do not repent, they are the ones who are unjust. And do not back bite one another; would any of you like that he eats the flesh of his dead brother; so you regarded it to be detestable. And fear God. Indeed, God is Ever-Forgiving and Ever-Merciful. (49:11-12)

Write a “Sinful Speech” diary for two weeks. Each day write down sinful words and statements you have uttered. At the end of two weeks, share this with your closest friend or with your instructor or just destroy it.
Make a commitment to yourself that in future you will be more careful in your speech and conversation.
