Standing at a traffic light

On a cold and frosty night

Seeming from a land far

A boy tiptoed to my car

His clothes were tattered

And face seemed battered

Barefooted he walked

Little fingers knocked

Silent was his feeble stare

His misery I could not bear

The light became green

I had to leave the scene

His face I could not forget

An ordeal huge I was beset

My limbs became numb

My mind became dumb

Then spilled drop by drop

Tears that would not stop!
