Forbidden Edibles

Believers! Eat of the suitable things with which We have provided you and be grateful to God alone if it is Him you worship. He has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of swine and any flesh slaughtered in the name of someone other than God. (2:172-173)

Say: “I find not in what has been revealed to me through divine inspiration forbidden to a person who eats things which are edible, unless it be the flesh of dead animals, or blood poured forth or the flesh of swine because all these are unclean or in, disobedience to God, animals slaughtered in someone else’s name.” Then he who is compelled by hunger such that he neither desires to eat nor crosses the limits [incurs no sin]. This is because your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful. (6:145)
